Pigeon Falling

My dad built me two pigeon wings
Expecting me to wear them
As he pushed me off of a window’s ledge
Expecting me to fly them.

The buildings look more sightly at a hundred miles an hour.
Their lights streak through my fingers in a river’s crystal shower.

I’m sure I’ll test these feathers yet
And catch the wind nigh crashing,
But… I’ve got a ways to fall withal;
What’s more, this drop is smashing.

The day mount St. Helens errupted, Betsy and Renwald were drinking tea in a burlesque house in Britain discussing politics. Then a cheshire cat crawled up through the floorboards and Renwald sat on it.
“I’m an artist!” said Renwald.
“You’re an idiot.” Said Betsy.
“I’ve got principles,” said the cat.
